DO NOT USE SAUL'S ARMOR

We need GOD Direction in order to attain our Goals
1 Samuel 17:38-40 NIV
Then Saul dressed David in his own tunic. He put a coat of armor on him and a bronze helmet on his head. 39 David fastened on his sword over the tunic and tried walking around, because he was not used to them.
“I cannot go in these,” he said to Saul, “because I am not used to them.” So he took them off. 40 Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine.

David is about to face the biggest challenge in his life and it may cost him his life. Saul the king has allowed him to fight this battle yet in his mind he is convinced that David does not stand a chance. So, Saul does the most sensible thing to make the situation a little better. He gives David his amour. I am sure Saul had fought many wars and come out victorious using this same amour. David tries it on, but it just does not feel right to him. It feels clumsy and heavy and he cannot move freely with Saul’s amour on.

Just because it worked for so and so in a particular manner, does not mean that it will work for you in the same way. I have seen many people get disappointed because they tried to fight the battles before them by using another person’s armor. We all have our battles to fight and it is up to us to ask God who has called us to fight these battles what weapons to use. Just because God told me to give all my salary and as I obeyed He came through for me financially, does not mean I go preaching to everyone who is facing a financial crisis to do the same.
In John 9:6 Jesus healed a blind man by spiting in the dust and making mud which he applied to the man’s eyes and after the man washed, he was healed! Does that mean that every time we are praying for a blind man we are to do the same and they will be healed? I don’t think so. That was the weapon that God instructed for that particular situation. In Mark 10:52 He heals blind Bartimaeus by just speaking, He does not even touch him.

I remember once in church we were praying for the sick and there was this gentleman who was in line because he was tired of wearing spectacles and he believed God to heal him. There he was, crying out to his God, tears all over his face. We finished praying and the people were going back to their seats but not him. Not without his miracle! He leaned over to one of the pastors and told him that God was saying for him to receive his healing, the pastor was to spit into his eyes. The pastor was taken aback by the request, but the man was fully convinced that God had spoken and so the pastor obliged. The man was head!

What weapons has God given you to fight against the giant before you? Logically it seemed like David stood a better chance against Goliath if he were to fight with Saul’s amour. Saul’s amour was heavy and uncomfortable. God gave David 5 smooth stones and a sling. In the eyes of all it looked like nothing but it got the job done in record time.
