Obedience is better than sacrifice

Obedience is better than sacrifice and it is obvious that we need to allow the Holy Spirit to empower us to go through tests of character and overcome them. These could be as simple as being truthful, having a forgiving attitude and watching what we say.

We also need to watch our hearts as simple things can show we are not on the right track. Here is one live example: You are leading worship and the people are sinking deep into worship. As you keep on singing, it seems the anointing is increasing and the Spirit is moving.

The senior pastor comes and takes the microphone from you (in some cases not so gently!) and starts ministering to people or even winds that session down somehow. How do you react? Okay, better still: how do you feel? This is the ultimate test. Are you embarrassed, upset, offended? If you are still at peace even though that is done often, you have passed the ultimate test of Ephesians 5:21 (Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. (NIV)).

A humble heart and a teachable spirit are the hallmark of a true worshipper. Allow the Holy Spirit to deal with your character until you can truly say 'it is no longer I who live but Christ who lives in me'. This way He will make sure you go far in any ministry as you serve Him,

Regardless of whether it is the worship ministry or not. 'For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love' 2 Peter 1:5-7 NIV.

Be blessed! Be humble! Be a worshipper!
